Comfrey Crown (Bocking 4)
$5.00
Price includes 1 crown (roots with growing shoots at the top). If your interested in a bulk order shoot me an email at psalm1.3designs@gmail.com .
Comfrey has so many uses! Traditionally it is used to increase the rate of skin/tendon/bone injuries. In addition to a treatment, it can uses such as a high protein animal feed, a compost activator, or just a cut and drop mulch that increases soil fertility. Whatever your need, we have crowns available. These grow faster than root cuttings.
The bocking 4 type does not produce viable seeds so it wont spread everywhere you don't want it, but its easy to divide for more plants if you want them. Its easy to grow, just give it a little fertility and moderate moisture and you will have it forever.

Cut Leaf Elderberry - Sambucus nigra laciniata
$12.00
A beautiful form of European elderberry. A 6-8' shrub with deep cut lobed leaves followed by large heads of white flowers and shiny berries. Pollinates well with Black Lace. Space 6' to 8' circle Zones 3-9. Plants shipped bare rooted and 1-2' tall.
Jerusalem Artichoke aka Sunchoke
$3.00
The ultimate permaculture plant, that can literally remain a permanent food source in your landscape with very little work. Price is for 5 tubers
These really shine in an area where you would like to grow wild flowers or other less managed areas with room to run. These can reach 10'+ tall with 2" thick stalks that will have beautiful yellow flowers. The real prize though is the tubers growing under the ground that can be used much like white potatoes, but much healthier. You can expect 5-8lbs of tubers from each tuber planted!!!!
These plants will come back year after year, even if you harvest the tubers. This is where some caution is advised. The tubers can run several feet from the base of the plant, and its nearly impossible to collect them all. This is what makes the such a great perennial crop, just be sure you really want them where you plant them. These also make an awesome crop to grow for animal feed! Let your hogs in with them in the fall and let them harvest them for you!
If they do start coming up where you don't want them, don't dismay!! Wait for the plant to get about 1' tall, then pull it up. This is about the height where the plant has expended its stored energy (tubers), and it wont come back. But if you try to pull them when they are smaller they will have enough energy to send up new shoots. Feed the shoots you don't want to rabbits, goats, cow's, pigs...you get the idea. Deer like the young shoots, so some people plant them where they want to keep deer away from young trees or garden spaces.

Horseradish Plant/crown
$5.00
This plant is so hard to kill, yet the "Big Box" stores are professionals at killing these "easy to grow" plants, in those terrible little dry sawdust filled bags. Ours are guaranteed fresh dug, and ready to grow, and have an awesome peppery flavor in the fall!
Horseradish is a wonderful plant that is really easy to grow zones 3-7! It's great at filling empty areas of your landscape, especially ones that are a bit shady. The long broad leaves are attractive, but do spread overtime, the more you dig/break the roots, the more new plants shoot up. You can dig the roots in the fall-winter to make your own spicy condiment that makes a pot roast POP!
When plants are dormant fresh root will be shipped, with active growth tops, in the warmer months a plant with leaves will be shipped.

White Cushaw Winter Squash Seeds- Squash Vine Borer resistant!
$2.00
These huge things have two huge things that I love about them. #1 No squash vine borers have ever killed any of my plants. #2 They store all winter, just sitting on the floor, even when my wife and kids keep moving them beside the air vent blowing hot air, smh. #3 Reason is they are delish, great texture, not stringy! #4, ok I know I said two reasons, but really these things are great, did I mention some have been 45lbs!
If there's anything wrong with them, its that they are huge, the plants and the fruit, this is not a square foot gardening plant, more like 200ft2 gardening. Also, the oven is going to be running all day to cook one, after you hack it into 4 giant hunks...pick a cold day. Lastly, I don't recommend starting them inside, due to the risk of breaking the tap root, just plant them in the ground where you want them.
10 Seeds $2, great add on item, if this is all you want to buy...email me @ psalm1.3designs@gmail.com and I'll tell you to bite the bullet and buy some more stuff to make the $8 shipping worth it. Ha! Just kidding, I'll help you out.

Chinese Water Chestnut Plant (Eleocharis dulcis)
$7.00
4/1/18 Update (picture date): These are ready to be planted.
These plants grow and spread so quickly, one plant can fill a 6' space. It's important to give these a nice long growing season to get large corms, but you don't have to live in Florida. I'm in zone 7b south east Virginia and they have come back year after year without replanting for multiple winters with record cold temps. So I believe they are much hardier than other websites say.
Plant these anywhere that can hold water. The optimum soil temperature for planting is 55-60*F. It is recommended to keep the water depth between 4-8" and a minimum soil depth of 10-12".
Leave them flooded all season, and you can harvest after the green tops turn brown in the fall, you don't have to rush to beat a frost, they keep fine in the mud, but don't let the ground completely freeze before harvesting.

Disease Resistant Apple Scion Wood
$5.00
Why graft? Do you have an old ugly apple tree, or maybe a crab apple tree, or just grow an apple from seed? These can actually be used, and you can quickly start over with a new type of disease resistant apple! When you start with a large/healthy root system, you will be shocked at how fast these trees will grow. It really is the best way in my opinion.
Nothing is easier than Apples to graft (seriously you can do this!), and now is the perfect time of year! Included are three fresh cut scions from your choice of three of the most disease resistant varieties of apples.
