Seedling Pawpaw tree
So my seedling Pawpaw's were a bit small this year, but they still have great root systems, they will never be shipped with broken taproots.
If your late to the Pawpaw party, they are the largest fruits native to North America. They are claimed to be one of George Washington's favorites, and helped Lewis and Clark survive their long journey. The fruits are shaped kind of like a mango, and have a soft custard texture. They have a variety of flavors ranging from vanilla to banana, some even have a bubble gum type flavor. They are a natural under story tree that can grow in some shade, but will fruit better with mostly full sun. Some worry about full sun when they are young, but mine have always done fine, and these seedlings were grown in full sun. I have a feeling the problems have been from bringing potted trees out of a greenhouse straight into full sun.
